A long-missed sunshine swathed the delightful SES Ground in warm rays, inspiring the BPCC U11 Soft Ball side to a glorious victory over visiting Long Sutton.

Under the expert helm of Captain Felicity M, BPCC batted first on a pitch with a healthy green tinge (it was artificial), rattling up a tasty 184 (starting from 100); opening pair Alec W (making his U11 debut) and Thomas B laying a healthy platform of 32 in their 4 overs, including a pair of boundaries from Thomas B in consecutive balls. A notable feature of the latter part of the BPCC innings was debutant Roman E being caught in the deep by teammate Charlie A, deputising for Long Sutton in the field. Epps made up for this with a powerful strike down the ground a few balls later that found its way into the confectionary stall... and out again.. Billy H found himself in demand, selflessly bowling twice for Long Sutton as well as his own 2 overs for BPCC; an heroic act on a hot morning.

Long Sutton had travelled a long way, but sadly fell short in their chase due to some very tidy and disciplined bowling from BPCC - Antonella B the pick of the crop as she snaffled 3 wickets in her devastating 2 over spell. Alec W added to his batting display with two sharp catches, and also joined Thomas B and B in the wickets column.

A lovely match played in great spirit; Long Sutton's 172 just not quite enough, with the excellent Sophie B holding her nerve in the final over to prevent them reaching their target.

At the end of a well-disciplined sporting spectacle with respect at the forefront, the sun was very much shining on BPCC!
