Skipper Ashwin chose to bowl, however the usual starts that have been seen from Ashwin & Logan didn't quite materialise. Freiston’s openers were finding the boundary regularly and soon moved the score beyond 50 before the introduction of Mo Azhar and Stuart Biggs started to slow the run rate. Biggs ade the breakthrough when he bowled opposition captain Paul for 22 but Waseem Ilyas took his score beyond 50. Azhar then had new man Moorthy caught by Ryan Gilmour before Biggs removed Ilyas for 68 and Joseph for 2 to bring the score to 107-4. Abdul Moeed and Usman Ahmed took the score beyond 150, helped by some suspect fielding from Burghley before the introduction of Ryan Gilmour bought about a regular flow of wickets. Gilmour took 4-46 along with a run out and Logan claiming one wicket with a hostile spell to bowl Freiston out for 196 with just 2 balls of the innings remaining.
With about the largest total of the season to chase, Burghley knew they had to get off to a good start, and they did just that. James Laud, making his Saturday league debut, along with Mike Hobbiss scored freely from the outset. Hobbiss was the only man to fall for 41 when he was superbly caught by wicketkeeper Zeeshan Saeed which bought Ryan Gilmour to the crease. Gilmour carried on his form from the previous weekend with a blistering 62 from just 53 balls alongside Laud who made 77 from 71 balls to see Burghley home in just 27 overs.
Another 20 points for Burghley and 7 wins from the last 7 to leave the bears top of the league at the half-way stage of the season.
