Burghley Park Cricket Club is delighted to confirm the appointment of Josh Weller as Head of Player Pathway, a newly established role designed to strengthen the connection between our Junior and Senior sections.

This position has been created to provide greater clarity around how players progress through the club, ensuring a clear, inclusive and well-communicated pathway from junior cricket into the senior game. The role aligns closely with the club’s long-term vision for player development, retention and sustainability.

As Head of Player Pathway, Josh will sit on the main committee and act as the primary link between the Junior Committee and Senior Captains, helping to coordinate player progression, support planned introductions into senior teams, and ensure expectations are clear and aligned on both sides. The role will also contribute to succession planning and the long-term retention of players across the club.

Josh brings a strong understanding of Burghley Park Cricket Club’s culture and ambitions, and a clear passion for supporting players as they develop both on and off the field.
Speaking about his appointment, Josh said:

“I’m delighted to take on the role of Head of Player Pathway at Burghley Park Cricket Club. Club Chairman Stuart Biggs added:

“We’re delighted to appoint Josh as our new Head of Player Pathway. This role is an important step in strengthening the connection between our junior and senior sections. Creating a clear, supportive and inclusive progression route is vital for the long-term success of the club, and Josh’s understanding of our culture and ambitions makes him an excellent fit to lead this area.”

The club believes this appointment represents a significant step forward in developing a strong, sustainable player pathway. Members with any questions regarding progression are encouraged to contact Josh or a member of the committee.
