BPCC 2nd XI travelled to their furthest away fixture slightly lacking in bowlers, and with one member of the team arriving at Frieston rather than Freiston, (30 miles away) started with ten men and a new opening bowling attack of Dinesh and Ahsan.
Whilst the batsmen made use of BPCC having a fielder missing, Dinesh (2 for 36 off 9) and Ahsan (1 for 24 off 9) bowled well, one of the Freiston openers got to 90 before being bowled by Steve Harker-Brown who took 2 for 25 off 4 overs, and a few of their middle order piled on more runs from the spinners, Aman taking 2 wickets, while Nick Fisher was economical with 1 wicket for 32.
BPCC were chasing 251 and whilst Armstrong came out guns blazing, a mis-timed ramp shot sent him back to the "pavilion" for 29, 4 of the top 5 didn't make double figures and although a recovery looked on when Ahsan (30) and Fisher (19) were in the middle, LBW appeals were the order of the day and Burghley fell well short of the target.
Last league game next weekend away at Heckington means the 2s will be mid table in their first year in Div 1 with 5th place in sight with a victory!
